Museum Outreach and Education to Youth in 1883!

History Kicks Ass!

A Children's Book, 1883

Page 26 of a Victorian children’s book about London: an illustration of children visiting the British Museum and the famous gateway Lamassu lions of the city of Nimrud.

The book was illustrated by Thomas Crane and Ellen Elizabeth Houghton, and authored by Felix Leigh. It was published by Marcus Ward and Company, London, in 1883.

130 years later, you can still make the same trip to the British Museum to see these artefacts!  See the photo: Wikipedia Assyrian Gateway Lions From Ashurnasirpal II in Nimrud
